Course Description:

A graduate level course offered Fall 2012 (2 CR). In this course we examine the ecology and evolution of plant-insect interactions in basic and applied contexts. We use these interactions as models to empirically explore the concepts and general principles covered in population, community and evolutionary ecology courses. Emphasis is placed on historical perspectives and major concepts in the field.

Course Objectives:

To learn about the various kinds of relationships between plants and insects,

To understand how plants and insects have directly and indirectly affected each others evolution and ecology,

To learn techniques and develop and apply critical thinking skills towards the design of solid experiments dealing with plant-insect interactions in ecology and/or evolution, and
