News: Michigan Tech Biological Sciences Students Win First at ASM Spring Meeting Poster Session Michigan Tech sent 7 students from the Microbiology club, to Bay City this past weekend for the 2005 Spring meeting of the Michigan Branch of the American Society for Microbiology. The theme of the meeting was Infectious Diseases Following Natural Disasters. Some of the guest speakers included individuals from the Center of Disease Control and the Michigan Department of Community Health. The students sent were Pengfei Song, James Wee, Michelle Riccio, Katy Houlmont, Corey Young, Alissa Koski, and Abbigale Wilson. Two of our students, James Wee and Pengfei Song took first place out of 19 entries, with their poster “Comparison of the Membrane Protein Profiles of Glucose and Naphthalene Grown Cells of Pseudomonas fluorescens strain Uper-1”.
