  • The Department of Biological Sciences is committed to excellence in education by offering BS, MS and Ph.D. degrees and conducting innovative, basic and applied research in several areas of Biology: Biochemistry, Bioinformatics, Clinical Laboratory Sciences, Ecology, Health Science, Limnology, Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Plant Science, and Remote Sensing.

    Our modern research facilities are housed in the Dow Environmental Sciences Building, providing access to Lake Superior and its watershed of large tracts of northern boreal forests, and designed to promote diverse cross-disciplinary research such as biotechnology, nanotechnology, and sustainable future initiatives.
