Research Description:

Andy Carlson is a Master's student under Dr. Casey Huckins in the Fish Ecology Lab. He is looking at the establishment and dispersal of coaster brook trout in the Keweenaw Peninsula.

A native of upstate New York and a graduate of Cornell University in 2000, his research interests focus on the ecology and community dynamics of cold water fish communities. Some of his past research has dealt with the effects of atmospheric deposition on Adirondack ecosystems (especially relating to the fish communities) with the Adirondack Lakes Survey Corporation.

He has also worked with the Cold Water Fisheries Unit at Cornell University assisting in various projects such as a comparisons between brook trout strains and an age and growth analysis of lake trout.
