Graduate Program in Biological Sciences

Diesel Research Group -

Collaborating Investigators:

  • Susan T. Bagley, PhD - Dept. of Biological Sciences
  • John H. Johnson, PhD - Dept. of Mechanical Engineering-Engineering Mechanics
  • David G. Leddy, PhD - Dept. of Chemistry.

The Diesel Research Group provides opportunities for interdisciplinary research in areas of toxicology, analytical chemistry, and mechanical engineering.

Faculty and graduate students from biological sciences, chemistry, and mechanical engineering are involved in a variety of projects related to the potential health effects and chemical characterization of diesel emissions. The effects of using alternate fuels and emission control devices are emphasized.

Studies are conducted under both laboratory and ambient conditions, particularly in underground mines.
