The Department of Biological Sciences offers courses
of study leading to both MS and PhD degrees.
Department
resources focus on two areas-biochemistry and molecular biology,
and ecology and environmental biology-with diverse research areas
in both areas. An MS degree in Biological Sciences with an option
in Clinical Laboratory Management is also offered to medical technologists.
Since close working ties
are maintained among the faculty, graduate students, and scientists
of various departments and research institutes on campus; creative,
interdisciplinary approaches to research projects are possible and
encouraged. All programs are flexible, providing a variety of individualized
research and educational experiences to prepare you for a career
in industry, government, or academia.
The University has a
large array of computer facilities, including extensive capabilities
for statistical analysis and graphics. All graduate students in
biological sciences have easy access to microcomputers for word
