Class Description Spring 2008 - Section R06
Title: Will the 21st Century Be China's?
One can hardly avoid globalization these days, and China is leading the way.
Americans buy Made-in-China toys, clothes and shoes; we eat Chinese food. China
is moving into biotech and computer manufacturing, buying oil fields, and
entering into world financial markets. China is the second largest economy in
the world, after the United States. China has the world's largest army. Will
China be the next superpower? How shall we in the United States respond? The
class will explore the varied impacts of China's fast and ongoing development
on the USA and the world from economical, political and cultural perspectives.
