Title:   Sustaining Humans

A central and critical question facing all humans is "How can our species best be sustained?" This is a tricky question, because definitions of "best" and "sustained" are slippery. Obviously, a continuous supply of human food is necessary for our existence. In this course we will consider various aspects of human foods and feeding, drawing upon the disciplines of economics, agriculture, sociology and political science. We will inquire whether current human food chains are sustainable, and examine critically various proposals for restructuring these chains.
