Title: Emotions

Emotions are a part of our everyday lives. We enjoy them and can't imagine life without them. They also are a part of many difficult situations and sometimes we wish we could be rid of them. For the most part though, we just accept them as a fact of life. They happen to us. We feel them. That is it. But is that it? We also talk a lot about them; we try to control them; we seek them out in romance and in horror films; we help each other out when they get bad. How do we learn to be emotional and to deal with emotions? Can we change how we feel, how we respond emotionally? In this class we will read about the science of emotion, look at how emotion and being emotional is shown in movies and literature, and talking about the public and private side of being emotional. And don't forget: emotions are fun.
