Title:   Cryptography, Secrecy, and Security

How can communications be kept secret? What roles should the government play in secure communications? Where and why is secrecy necessary? This section of Perspectives will look at these and related questions throughout history, focusing on World War II and the 21st century. No math beyond high school algebra is needed but an interest in puzzles may be helpful.
