It has been a long time since there was a workshop for Perspectives
instructors. We are planning two workshops that will be of great benefit, both
to veteran instructors, as well as to those new to the course. Although this
timing may not be ideal for all, we need to share ideas and connect with one
another to assure that the course is as effective as possible and meets the
goals of our general education program. Please plan to attend.
The first workshop will be held on
Thursday, May 1 in Alumni Lounge A from
10 AM until 3:30 PM. Topics will include thinking about the whole course,
techniques in the classroom, and strategies for incorporating writing into
Perspectives. We will consider types of writing assignments, what kinds of
writing assignments have worked and what haven't, and how to provide feedback
on writing to students.
Things to note:
Lunch will be provided!
Each instructor attending the workshop will receive a stipend of $75.
Bring to the workshop:
- ten copies of your proposal - if you can't find yours, please let Helene
know and we will try to locate it
- your section description - the short description that is circulated
to students
- list of readings you plan to assign
The second workshop will take place the week before classes begin for fall
semester. It will focus more on assessment, syllabi, academic integrity
issues, and starting off the first class session. Full details will come
later.

we can plan to have enough food for all! If you have questions or concerns,
