CALL FOR PERSPECTIVES INSTRUCTORS
(November 2007)

Instructors are being sought for Fall 2008 sections of UN1001, Perspectives on Inquiry.

If you already have an approved Perspectives topic, then simply let Helene Hiner (hthiner@mtu.edu) know you want to teach it again, how many sections you would like to teach and your time and day preference if you have one.

If you have never taught one before or if you would like to change topics, then you need to submit a proposal. Make sure you let your chair or dean know that you want to teach a section; it is the instructor's responsibility to arrange a home department. Renumeration to the department SS&E budget will remain the same as last year.

The following should be included in your proposal: A short guide is available at: http://www.bio.mtu.edu/courses/bl447/persp/rfi/guideln.htm and a longer handbook is available on the web by clicking on Perspectives from the A2Z directory on the Tech website.

If you want to teach, send your requests as soon as possible to Helene Hiner at hthiner@mtu.edu. All new proposals should be submitted by Jan. 9, so the faculty committee can review them.

Sections will be filled in the following preference order: tenured/tenure-track faculty, research professors, PhD holders, Tech ABDs (with exceptional skill in English; student needs a faculty recommendation), other university ABDs, terminal degree holders (e.g. JD, MD, MBA).

Honor sections go to tenured/tenure-track or research faculty who already have a strong track record with Perspectives.
