Purpose:

The purpose of the Michigan Upper Peninsula (U.P.) based professional microbiology society is to provide mechanisms for 1.) dissemination of current microbiology-related information between microbiologists from all areas of microbiology, 2.) educational opportunities for students and continuing education for health-related professionals, in particular, and 3.) networking opportunities for microbiologists from all areas of the U.P. and from all areas of interest.

The U.P "Twig" is open to anyone with an interest in microbiology, whether a professional or a student and whether in a clinical, educational, or industrial/consulting setting. All U.P. "Twig" members should join the Michigan Branch of ASM, membership in the national ASM is not required, although it is strongly encouraged.
