BL3210 - ENVIRONMENTAL MICROBIOLOGY Fall Semester, 2001
Objectives:
Lecture - To discuss 1) the general concepts of microbiology, such as growth, metabolism, genetics, and microbial structure and function, and 2) specific environmental microbiology topics such as microbial roles in wastewater treatment, disinfection, waterborne microbial pathogens, indicator organisms, and pollution control.
Lab - To learn microbiological skills such as staining and pure culture techniques, bacterial enumeration and characterization techniques, and construction of a growth curve plus detection of indicator organisms.
