Special Project #1 - "Find That Web Site!"

For this project, students will be looking for a web site that can be used to provide additional information, pictures, animations, etc., related to a topic covered in either the lecture or lab portions of the course.  Upon completion of the assignment, additional information and the associated web link will be added to the Course Outline or Lab Outline web sites.

Grading:  10 pts, based on the appropriateness of the site (to the topic) and the adequacy of the write-up.

Due Date:  Project must be completed by November 17, 2000 (end of 12th week).

General Procedure:

1.    Select a topic from the lecture or lab (e.g., type of technique from the lab, major topic from the lecture, lab, text, or text  web site, etc.).

2.    Send an e-mail to the course instructor (NOT to the class mailing list) for approval.

3.    Upon approval, post a note to theclass mailing list (bl3210-l@mtu.edu) stating the topic.  (Topics are available on a "first come, first served" basis.)

4.    Search the web for a GREAT web site for the selected topic (e.g., with explanations, animations, pictures, unusual information, etc.)

5.    Send an e-mail to the course instructor - with the working web address - for approval.

6.    Upon approval, submit to the course instructor (via e-mail) the site address along with a paragraph (or two) explaining how the site was located (including what search engine and key words were used) and why it contains materials appropriate for the topic.

The site will then be added as a resource to the Course or Lab Outline web site.
